People don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it

I’ve probably shared this video a dozen times with clients and friends because it’s just that good. It’s a video that gives you one of those “Aha moments” that make you look at your business and even your personal life a little differently.

Simon Sinek shared this talk at a TedX Puget Sound event in the fall of 2009. His talk was called ‘Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Action‘. It explains the principle behind every successful person and business and it’s a great model for anyone starting a business, a project or even a marketing campaign. The Aha moment for me was this simple quote Simon said;

“People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it”

Let that sink in for a minute. It’s a powerful statement. What he’s saying is that before you decided what and how you are going to do something, you first need to know why.
